Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Wolfgang Ischinger, chairman of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) Foundation, in Beijing on Friday. The meeting underscored China’s commitment to global stability and deepening ties with Europe.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized China’s role as a responsible major country advocating for an equal and orderly multi-polar world. “China is determined to be a stabilizing force in a volatile world,” he stated.
Highlighting the importance of Sino-German and Sino-European relations, Wang noted that China and Germany, as well as China and Europe, are partners engaged in win-win cooperation and common development. “Our common interests far outweigh our differences,” he said, expressing hope that both sides could continue to strengthen their collaborative efforts.
Wang Yi encouraged Ischinger to leverage his influence to promote positive contributions by the MSC in enhancing China-Germany and China-Europe exchanges. He urged the MSC to pay attention to the voices of developing countries, pool collective strength, and jointly tackle global challenges.
Wolfgang Ischinger expressed gratitude for China’s active support of the MSC over the years. He conveyed his willingness to further advance bilateral cooperative relations and deepen mutual understanding and trust between China, Germany, and Europe. “I am committed to promoting dialogue and cooperation to address common global issues,” Ischinger affirmed.
The two leaders also engaged in an in-depth exchange of views on the Ukraine crisis, acknowledging the complexity of the situation and the need for collaborative efforts to seek peaceful resolutions.
The meeting reflects a mutual desire to foster stronger relations and collaborative solutions in the face of global challenges, reinforcing the significance of China-Europe partnerships in promoting international stability and development.
