President Xi Jinping Urges Stronger China-Vietnam Relations in Beijing Meeting

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, in Beijing on Monday. The two leaders discussed the advancement of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future and emphasized the importance of cooperation between their nations.

President Xi urged both countries to work together to achieve more significant accomplishments in building a community with a shared future. He highlighted the strategic significance of the partnership, which was jointly announced during his visit to Vietnam at the end of last year with Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.

During the meeting, Xi asked Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to convey his cordial greetings to Nguyen Phu Trong. He noted that the consensus reached between him and Nguyen Phu Trong is being actively implemented through the joint efforts of both sides.

“The most distinctive feature of China-Vietnam relations is that our two sides are like-minded partners bound by a common destiny,” Xi said. He described the relationship between the Chinese and Vietnamese parties and countries as “comrades-plus-brothers,” reflecting their traditional friendship.

President Xi emphasized the need for joint efforts to serve their respective modernization goals, benefit both peoples, and contribute more significantly to the global socialist cause. He expressed China’s willingness to enhance the exchange of experiences in governing both the Party and the country.

Xi also proposed facilitating the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Vietnam’s Two Corridors and One Economic Circle strategy. He advocated for increased exchanges between young people and sister cities to strengthen ties further.
