China and Vietnam Seek New Horizons in Bilateral Cooperation

China and Vietnam are poised to deepen their partnership by exploring new avenues for cooperation, as senior officials from both nations met in Beijing to strengthen ties. Wang Yi, co-chair of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, emphasized China’s willingness to collaborate with Vietnam to foster growth in various sectors.

During his meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, also co-chair of the committee, Wang Yi highlighted the importance of enhancing people-to-people and cultural exchanges. \”China is eager to work with Vietnam to create new growth points for cooperation,\” Wang stated, underscoring the desire to handle differences appropriately and solidify the social foundation for the long-standing friendship between the two nations.

Last December, China and Vietnam agreed to build a community with a shared future, a move Wang described as carrying strategic significance. \”This agreement has opened up new prospects for the development of China-Vietnam relations and will elevate our comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new heights,\” he said.

Wang Yi expressed China’s readiness to capitalize on the coordinating role of the steering committee to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, technology, and innovation. \”By promoting these areas, we can advance the development of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future,\” he added.

Echoing this sentiment, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to collaborative growth. \”Vietnam stands ready to work with China to expand communication, enhance mutual understanding, and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation to achieve win-win results,\” he remarked.

Tran Luu Quang is accompanying Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, on his visit to China from April 7 to 12. The high-level visit signifies the importance both countries place on their bilateral relationship and their shared ambition for regional stability and prosperity.
