China’s top legislator, Zhao Leji, met separately with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, president of the Supreme Privy Council to the King of Cambodia, and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk on Thursday in Boao, south China’s island province of Hainan.
The dignitaries were in Boao to attend the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024, which concluded on Friday.
During his meeting with President Tokayev, Zhao, chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, highlighted that China-Kazakhstan relations have entered a new “golden 30 years.” He emphasized that building a China-Kazakhstan community with a shared future is a strategic decision made by the two heads of state and serves as a fundamental guideline for the future development of bilateral relations.
In discussions with Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Zhao praised the enduring friendship between China and Cambodia. He noted that both countries have maintained close cooperation in various fields and expressed confidence in continued collaboration to promote regional peace and development.
Meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, Zhao reiterated the strong strategic partnership between China and Russia. He emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration in areas such as trade, energy, and infrastructure for the mutual benefit of both nations.
The series of meetings at the Boao Forum underscored China’s commitment to strengthening ties with neighboring countries and advancing regional cooperation in Asia.
