In a recent meeting in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping extended a warm invitation to Dutch companies, encouraging them to invest more in China. President Xi highlighted the strong ties between China and the Netherlands, emphasizing the Netherlands’ role as a gateway for China-Europe cooperation.
The meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who was on a working visit to China from March 26 to 27 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, focused on enhancing the “open and pragmatic partnership for comprehensive cooperation” between the two nations.
“China is willing to promote the development of our comprehensive partnership,” President Xi stated, underscoring China’s intent to expand imports of high-quality Dutch products. He expressed hope that Dutch authorities would provide a fair and transparent business environment for Chinese enterprises operating in the Netherlands.
Discussing future collaboration, President Xi urged both countries to deepen cooperation in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, green transformation, and the silver-haired economy. He also emphasized the importance of continuing traditional cooperation in sectors like agriculture, water conservancy, and energy.
The two leaders agreed on the significance of facilitating personnel exchanges and promoting educational, cultural, and people-to-people interactions. “It is hoped that both sides will enhance mutual understanding and friendship between our peoples,” President Xi remarked.
On the global stage, China expressed readiness to strengthen coordination with the Netherlands within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization. Joint efforts to address global challenges, including climate change and biodiversity loss, were highlighted as key areas of cooperation.
Prime Minister Rutte acknowledged the fruitful discussions and expressed optimism about the future of China-Netherlands relations. The commitment from both nations to collaborate on crucial global issues signals a strengthening partnership that holds significant promise for investors, businesses, and citizens alike.
