Nauruan President David Adeang to Visit China, Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Nauruan President David Adeang will pay a state visit to China from March 24 to 29 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.

This marks the first state visit to China by a Nauruan president since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries in January, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian during a regular news briefing.

“The visit will provide an opportunity for China and Nauru to consolidate political mutual trust, expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields, deepen people-to-people friendship, and push forward bilateral relations,” Lin said.

China and Nauru signed a joint communiqué on the resumption of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level in Beijing on January 24, 2024, making Nauru the 183rd country to establish diplomatic ties with China.

The upcoming visit is expected to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, contributing to the development and prosperity of both nations.
