During a visit to Sydney on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the enduring foundation and broad public support underpinning China-Australia relations. Meeting with Chris Minns, Premier of the Australian state of New South Wales, Wang highlighted the significant role that New South Wales has played in fostering exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, remarked that his most significant impression during the visit was the unanimous support across various sectors in Australia for strengthening dialogue and collaboration with China. “No matter the ruling or opposition parties, the business community, policymakers, or the general public, all voiced their support,” he noted.
He underscored China’s commitment to enhancing partnerships with Australia in traditional sectors such as energy, minerals, agriculture, and dairy products. Wang expressed optimism that these collaborations would not only benefit both nations economically but also contribute to a stronger bilateral relationship founded on mutual respect and shared interests.
Wang’s visit signifies a positive trajectory in China-Australia relations, with both nations acknowledging the importance of cooperative engagement in addressing regional and global challenges.
