Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for renewed efforts to further energize China’s central region, emphasizing its pivotal role in the nation’s modernization efforts. Chairing a symposium on Wednesday, President Xi highlighted the region’s strategic importance and urged for high-quality development to write new chapters in the country’s progress.
During the symposium, President Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, underscored the central region’s key contributions as a major grain production base, an energy and raw material hub, a center for modern equipment manufacturing and high-tech industries, and a comprehensive transportation nexus.
“The central region is the backbone of China’s economic and social development,” President Xi stated. He called for synergistic efforts to promote high-quality development, stressing that energizing the central region is crucial in advancing Chinese modernization and achieving the nation’s long-term goals.
The symposium was attended by prominent leaders including Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Cai Qi, the director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, and Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, all of whom are members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Their presence signifies the central government’s commitment to the development of the central region.
