Hong Kong is set to host eight events at China’s 15th National Games, marking a milestone in cross-regional collaboration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Rosanna Law Shuk-Pui highlighted the city’s readiness to stage fencing, golf, and beach volleyball competitions, among others, during the quadrennial sports spectacle.
Law emphasized the strategic advantages of leveraging the Greater Bay Area’s shared infrastructure and cultural ties. "Our long-standing cooperation with neighboring cities ensures seamless coordination," she stated, underscoring the region’s capacity to deliver world-class sporting events. Challenges such as cross-border logistics and crowd management were acknowledged but framed as opportunities to strengthen inter-regional partnerships.
The Games, scheduled for late 2025, are expected to boost tourism and showcase Hong Kong’s role as a hub for international sports diplomacy. Analysts note the event aligns with broader efforts to integrate the Greater Bay Area’s economic and social development while promoting national unity.
