China-Pakistan ‘Ironclad’ Friendship Explored in Panel Discussion

Seven decades of unwavering partnership between China and Pakistan took center stage in a recent panel discussion titled From Summit Hall to Shared Story, which delved into the historical roots and future prospects of this strategic alliance. Moderated by Wang Guan, the event brought together diplomats, cultural experts, and descendants of pioneering figures to examine what makes this relationship "ironclad."

Generational Guardians of Friendship

Geng Jing, granddaughter of General Geng Biao—a key architect of early China-Pakistan ties—shared how her family’s three-generation commitment reflects the partnership’s enduring nature. "My grandfather’s diaries reveal how trust was built through shared challenges," she noted, emphasizing how personal connections continue to shape bilateral cooperation.

Diplomats Chart Milestones

Ambassador Khalil Hashmi and former Ambassador Zhang Chunxiang highlighted pivotal moments, from infrastructure projects like the Karakoram Highway to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). "Respect for sovereignty and mutual benefit anchor this relationship," said Hashmi, while Zhang underscored technological collaboration as a new frontier.

Culture as Common Language

Academic panelists traced how Urdu poetry translations, student exchanges, and joint archaeological projects have strengthened people-to-people bonds. A historian cited the ancient Silk Road as a metaphor: "Just as caravans bridged civilizations, today’s partnerships thrive on shared narratives."

The discussion concluded with optimism about youth-driven innovation, positioning the China-Pakistan alliance as a model for South-South cooperation in an evolving global landscape.
