China-Africa Expo Fuels $7B Deals, Boosts Development Ties

Changsha Hosts Fourth China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo

Over 4,700 enterprises and 300,000 participants from 53 African countries and 27 Chinese regions converged in Hunan Province this week for the fourth China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE). Running through June 15 under the theme "China and Africa: Together Toward Modernization," the event showcases cooperation in agriculture, clean energy, healthcare, and cultural industries.

Bridging Markets, Building Futures

Since its 2019 launch, CAETE has facilitated $53.32 billion in signed projects. This year’s expo anticipates $7 billion in new agreements across transportation, manufacturing, and smart mining. A record 128 cooperation proposals are being negotiated, with zero-tariff access for 33 African nations expected to boost trade flows.

Technology Transfer Meets Industrial Growth

African delegates highlighted CAETE’s role in addressing industrialization challenges through Chinese partnerships in agricultural machinery and renewable energy. Special exhibitions debut this year, featuring African brands and tourism initiatives, while new matchmaking platforms aim to accelerate skills and technology transfers.

A Platform for Shared Progress

With China’s exhibition industry growing 10.1% annually, events like CAETE demonstrate how economic diplomacy fosters cross-continental development. For African businesses, the expo opens doors to China’s 1.4 billion consumers while attracting critical infrastructure investments – a dual engine for regional modernization.
