Ex-Lebanese PM Explores China’s Development Model for Middle East Growth

Lebanon’s former Prime Minister Hassan Diab emphasized the transformative potential of China’s development strategies for nations navigating economic challenges during a recent interview with China Media Group (CMG) in Guangzhou. Diab attended the "Understanding China" conference, where he underscored the global significance of Chinese modernization and its implications for collaborative growth, particularly in the Middle East.

"The more people understand China, the more they support China," Diab stated, highlighting the necessity of recognizing China’s emergence as a pivotal global power. He advocated for Lebanon to draw lessons from China’s economic reforms, which have propelled infrastructure development and technological advancement, as the Middle Eastern nation seeks solutions to its prolonged economic crisis.

The dialogue addressed Lebanon’s historical role as a cultural and economic hub in the region and explored pathways to revitalize its influence through strategic partnerships. Diab stressed that China’s emphasis on win-win cooperation aligns with the developmental needs of Middle Eastern countries, fostering stability and shared prosperity.

Academics and investors monitoring Asia’s economic landscape will find Diab’s insights relevant, particularly his call for cross-regional knowledge exchange. His remarks also resonate with diaspora communities and policymakers interested in Sino-Middle Eastern relations.
