Chinese President Xi Jinping recently toured Liaoning Province in northeast China, marking his first domestic inspection of 2025. The visit focused on disaster recovery, urban renewal, and industrial advancement, reflecting his commitment to the well-being of the people and the country's development.
This visit also marks the 13th consecutive year that President Xi has visited grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival, emphasizing his connection with the people during the most important festival in China. It is his fourth visit to Liaoning since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012.
On January 22, President Xi visited Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao, one of the hardest-hit cities during the summer floods in Liaoning in 2024 caused by unprecedented torrential downpours. In response to the disaster, the village committee facilitated the construction of new homes for severely affected households on higher ground. Tailored to each family's size and needs, the new housing was completed in less than two months, providing nearly 200 disaster-stricken people with a warm home before the onset of winter.
During his visit, Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, visiting the homes of relocated villagers and inquiring about the quality of the new houses and their daily lives. His concern for the people's well-being was evident, aligning with his long-standing \"people-first\" philosophy and commitment to enhancing their sense of security.
On January 23, Xi visited the Chang'an community in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, to observe how public services were being optimized to improve residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has undertaken renovations of old residential areas, upgrading all 13 residential buildings and public spaces. Initiatives promoting quality employment, education, health services, and elderly care have been launched to support the residents.
Additionally, President Xi visited a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi, another city in Liaoning, to gain insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation and upgrading, promoting high-quality development in the industrial sector.
