Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent tour of Liaoning Province in northeast China marked his first domestic inspection in 2025. His visit focused on disaster recovery, urban renewal, and industrial advancement, showcasing his commitment to the well-being of the Chinese people.
For the 13th consecutive year, President Xi visited grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival, the most significant festival for the Chinese people. This trip also marked his fourth visit to Liaoning since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, highlighting the province's importance in national development.
On January 22, President Xi visited Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao, one of the hardest-hit cities during the devastating summer floods in Liaoning in 2024 caused by unprecedented torrential downpours. In response to the disaster, the village committee swiftly built new homes for the severely affected households on higher ground. Tailored to each family's needs, the new Zhujiagou Village emerged in less than two months, providing nearly 200 disaster-stricken people with warm homes before the onset of winter.
During his visit, President Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, visiting the homes of relocated villagers. He inquired about the quality of their new houses and the provisions for their daily lives, reflecting his deep concern for the people's welfare.
People's well-being has always been a major concern for President Xi. Long before the flood, during the 2013 National People's Congress, he emphasized the importance of ensuring and improving people's livelihoods while participating in the deliberations of the Liaoning delegation. He urged special attention to those facing difficulties and the delivery of tangible benefits to the people. The swift relocation after the flood embodies the \"people-first\" philosophy and the commitment to enhancing the sense of security among the populace.
On January 23, President Xi visited the Chang'an community in Shenyang, Liaoning's capital, to observe how public services are being optimized to improve residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has been renovating old residential areas. All 13 residential buildings and public areas have been upgraded. Additionally, initiatives promoting quality employment, education, health services, and elderly care have been launched to support the residents.
President Xi also visited a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi, another city in Liaoning, to gain insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation and upgrading, promoting high-quality development in the industrial sector.
President Xi's visit to Liaoning not only brings a touch of warmth to the people but also reflects his unwavering commitment to disaster recovery, urban renewal, and industrial advancement in the region.
