Chinese President Xi Jinping recently embarked on a tour of Liaoning Province in northeast China, marking his first domestic inspection in 2025. The visit focused on disaster recovery, urban renewal, and industrial advancement, highlighting Xi's continued dedication to the well-being of the Chinese people.
On January 22, President Xi visited Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao, one of the areas hardest hit by the unprecedented torrential downpours that caused severe flooding in the summer of 2024. In response to the disaster, the village committee swiftly organized the construction of new homes for severely affected households in higher, safer areas. Tailored to each family's needs, the new village emerged in less than two months, providing nearly 200 people with warm homes before the onset of winter.
During his visit, Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, personally visiting the homes of relocated villagers. He engaged with residents, inquiring about the quality of their new houses and the provisions for their daily lives, reflecting his deep concern for their well-being.
This visit marked the 13th consecutive year that Xi has connected with grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival, underlining his \"people-first\" philosophy. His consistent focus on improving people's livelihoods was evident when, back in 2013 during the National People's Congress, he emphasized the importance of ensuring well-being while participating in deliberations with the Liaoning delegation. He urged special attention to those facing difficulties and stressed the need to deliver tangible benefits to the people.
On January 23, Xi continued his tour in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, visiting the Chang'an community to observe how public services are being optimized to enhance residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has undergone significant renovations, upgrading all 13 residential buildings and public areas. New initiatives promoting quality employment, education, health services, and elderly care have been launched to support the local residents.
Additionally, Xi visited a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi City to gain insights into the company's efforts in accelerating transformation, upgrading, and promoting high-quality development. This reflects the broader national focus on industrial advancement and economic growth.
President Xi's Liaoning visit reinforces his commitment to addressing the needs of the people, promoting recovery and development, and ensuring that progress benefits all members of society. His hands-on approach and direct engagement with communities exemplify a leadership style that prioritizes the well-being and prosperity of the nation.
