Xi Jinping’s Liaoning Visit: Touch of Warmth, Reflection of Commitment

Chinese President Xi Jinping recently embarked on a significant tour of Liaoning Province in northeast China, marking his first domestic inspection in 2025. This visit underscores his enduring commitment to the well-being of the Chinese people and reflects his \"people-first\" philosophy.

On January 22, President Xi visited Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao, one of the areas hardest hit by the unprecedented summer floods of 2024. The torrential downpours had caused severe damage, displacing many residents and destroying homes.

In response to the disaster, the village committee acted swiftly to rebuild. New homes were constructed in higher areas, tailored to each family's size and needs. Remarkably, within less than two months, a new Zhujiagou Village emerged, providing nearly 200 disaster-stricken people with warm homes before the onset of winter.

During his visit, Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, visiting the homes of relocated villagers. He inquired about the quality of the new houses and the provisions for their daily lives, demonstrating his deep concern for their welfare.

People's well-being has always been at the forefront of Xi's agenda. Back in 2013, during the National People's Congress, he emphasized the importance of ensuring and improving people's livelihoods while participating in the deliberations of the Liaoning delegation. His current visit reaffirms this commitment, highlighting efforts to enhance the sense of security and happiness among the people.

On January 23, Xi visited the Chang'an community in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, to observe how public services are being optimized to improve residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has been renovating old residential areas. All 13 residential buildings and public areas have been upgraded. Initiatives promoting quality employment, education, health services, and elderly care have been launched to support the residents.

Xi also toured a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi, another city in Liaoning, to gain insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation and upgrading, promoting high-quality development in the industrial sector.

This visit marks the 13th consecutive year that Xi has visited grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival, China's most important festival. It is also his fourth visit to Liaoning since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, reflecting his ongoing dedication to national development and the betterment of people's lives.
