Chinese President Xi Jinping recently embarked on his first domestic inspection of 2025, touring Liaoning Province in northeast China to oversee disaster recovery efforts, urban renewal projects, and industrial advancement initiatives. This marks his 13th consecutive year visiting grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival, demonstrating his continued commitment to the well-being of the Chinese people.
On January 22, Xi visited Zhujiagou Village in Huludao, one of the areas hardest hit by the unprecedented torrential downpours that caused severe flooding in Liaoning in 2024. In response to the disaster, the village committee swiftly organized the construction of new homes for severely affected households in higher ground areas. Tailored to each family's size and needs, the new housing was completed in less than two months, providing nearly 200 disaster-stricken residents with a warm home before the onset of winter.
During his visit, Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, visiting the homes of relocated villagers and inquiring about the quality of their new houses and provisions for daily life. His attention to the villagers' well-being reflects the \"people-first\" philosophy that he has consistently advocated.
The following day, on January 23, Xi visited the Chang'an community in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, to observe how optimized public services are enhancing residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has been renovating old residential areas, upgrading all 13 residential buildings and public spaces. Initiatives promoting quality employment, education, healthcare services, and elderly care have been launched to support the residents.
Xi also toured a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi to gain insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation and upgrading, promoting high-quality development in the industrial sector.
Throughout his visit, President Xi emphasized the importance of ensuring and improving people's livelihoods. His hands-on approach and direct engagement with communities underscore his commitment to enhancing the sense of security and happiness among the Chinese people.
