Chinese President Xi Jinping recently embarked on his first domestic inspection of 2025 with a tour of Liaoning Province in northeast China. Focusing on disaster recovery, urban renewal, and industrial advancement, the visit underscores his commitment to improving the well-being of the Chinese people.
This marks the 13th consecutive year that President Xi has visited grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival, China's most important festival. It is also his fourth visit to Liaoning since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012.
On January 22, President Xi visited Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao, one of the areas hardest hit by the unprecedented torrential downpours during the summer floods of 2024. In response to the disaster, the village committee swiftly constructed new homes in a higher area for severely affected households. Tailored to each family's needs, the new housing was completed in less than two months, providing nearly 200 disaster-stricken residents with a warm home before the onset of winter.
During his visit, President Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, visiting the homes of relocated villagers and inquiring about the quality of the new houses and their daily lives. His actions reflect his longstanding \"people-first\" philosophy and commitment to enhancing the sense of security among the populace.
President Xi's concern for people's well-being has been evident throughout his leadership. As early as the 2013 National People's Congress, he emphasized the importance of ensuring and improving livelihoods while participating in the deliberations of the Liaoning delegation. He urged special attention to those facing difficulties and delivering tangible benefits to the people.
On January 23, President Xi visited the Chang'an community in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, to observe how public services are being optimized to improve residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has undertaken renovations of old residential areas, upgrading all 13 residential buildings and public spaces. Initiatives promoting quality employment, education, health services, and elderly care have also been launched to support the residents.
In addition, President Xi visited a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi, another city in Liaoning, to gain insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation, upgrade technologies, and promote high-quality development.
President Xi Jinping's visit to Liaoning Province highlights his dedication to addressing the needs of the people, fostering urban renewal, and advancing industrial innovation, reinforcing his commitment to the nation's sustainable development.
