Xi Jinping’s Liaoning Visit: A Touch of Warmth and Commitment

Chinese President Xi Jinping recently embarked on his first domestic inspection of 2025, visiting Liaoning Province in northeast China to oversee disaster recovery, urban renewal, and industrial advancement efforts.

This marks the 13th consecutive year that President Xi has visited grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival, the most significant festival for the Chinese people. It is also his fourth visit to Liaoning since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, reflecting his ongoing commitment to the region's development.

On January 22, President Xi traveled to Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao, one of the areas hardest hit by the unprecedented torrential downpours that caused severe summer floods in Liaoning in 2024. In response to the disaster, the village committee swiftly organized the construction of new homes for severely affected households in higher areas. These new houses were tailored to each family's size and needs, and within less than two months, a new Zhujiagou Village emerged, providing nearly 200 disaster-stricken people with warm homes before the onset of winter.

During his visit, President Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, visiting the homes of relocated villagers and inquiring about the quality of their new houses and provisions for daily life. His interactions with the villagers highlighted his \"people-first\" philosophy and dedication to enhancing their sense of security.

People's well-being has always been a major concern for President Xi. Even before the floods, during the 2013 National People's Congress, he emphasized the importance of ensuring and improving people's livelihoods while participating in the deliberations of the Liaoning delegation. He urged special attention to those facing difficulties and called for delivering tangible benefits to the people.

On January 23, President Xi visited the Chang'an community in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, to observe how public services are being optimized to improve residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has been renovating old residential areas. All 13 residential buildings and public areas within the community have been upgraded. Additionally, initiatives promoting quality employment, education, health services, and elderly care have been launched to support the residents.

President Xi also visited a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi, another city in Liaoning. He gained insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation and upgrading, promoting high-quality development in the region's industrial sector.

President Xi's visit to Liaoning Province underscores his commitment to the well-being of the people and the sustainable development of the region. His engagement with local communities and industries reflects a dedication to fostering growth, resilience, and improved living standards for all.
