Chinese President Xi Jinping recently toured Liaoning Province in northeast China to inspect disaster recovery efforts, urban renewal projects, and industrial advancement initiatives. This marks his first domestic inspection in 2025 and the 13th consecutive year he has visited grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival.
On January 22, President Xi visited Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao, which was one of the areas hardest hit by severe floods in the summer of 2024 caused by unprecedented torrential downpours. The disaster had a significant impact on the local community, displacing many residents.
In response, the village committee facilitated the construction of new homes for severely affected households on higher ground. The new housing was tailored to each family's size and needs, and in less than two months, a new Zhujiagou Village emerged. Nearly 200 disaster-stricken residents were provided with warm homes before the onset of winter.
During his visit, President Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, visiting the homes of relocated villagers and inquiring about the quality of their new houses and provisions for daily life. His visit underscored the government's commitment to putting people first and enhancing their sense of security.
On January 23, President Xi visited the Chang'an community in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, to observe how public services are being optimized to improve residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has been renovating old residential areas. All 13 residential buildings and public areas within the community have been upgraded. Initiatives promoting quality employment, education, health services, and elderly care have been launched to support the residents.
President Xi also toured a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi to gain insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation and upgrading, promoting high-quality development in the industrial sector.
His visit to Liaoning Province reflects the government's dedication to disaster recovery, community development, and industrial advancement, reinforcing the commitment to improving the livelihoods of the people and promoting sustainable growth.
