What to Expect from Davos 2025: Collaborating for the Intelligent Age

The World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting for 2025, scheduled from January 20 to 24 in Davos, Switzerland, is set to bring together nearly 3,000 leaders from politics, academia, and business, including 60 heads of state and government. This gathering is poised to spark critical discussions addressing global and local issues vital to the international community.

Historically, the WEF has been a platform for pivotal moments. In 1992, Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk met at Davos for the first time outside South Africa, symbolizing a turning point in the fight against apartheid. In 1998, amid a financial crisis, the concept of creating a dialogue platform between developed and developing nations emerged in Davos, laying the groundwork for the Group of 20.

The upcoming Davos 2025 is anticipated to be even more significant amid increasing geopolitical and economic uncertainties, trade tensions, cultural polarization, and climate challenges. These issues are becoming more complex and interconnected, demanding collaborative solutions.

The theme for Davos 2025, “Collaborating for the Intelligent Age,” highlights how converging technologies are rapidly transforming our world with the potential to both uplift and divide humanity. New breakthroughs in quantum computing, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence present unique opportunities to enhance productivity, improve living standards, and reduce poverty and inequality.

Under this overarching theme, the forum will focus on five priorities: “Rethinking Growth,” “Industries in the Intelligent Age,” “Investing in People,” “Safeguarding the Planet,” and “Rebuilding Trust.” These areas aim to address the challenges and harness the opportunities presented by technological advancements and global shifts.

Davos 2025 promises to be a critical juncture for global leaders to collaborate on shaping a future that leverages technology for the betterment of all, fostering inclusive growth, and building a sustainable and trustworthy global community.
