Anticipating Davos 2025: Collaborating for the Intelligent Age

The World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting is set to take place from January 20 to 24, 2025, in Davos, Switzerland. This significant event is expected to gather close to 3,000 leaders from politics, academia, and business, including 60 heads of state and government.

Historically, the WEF has been a catalyst for pivotal bilateral and multilateral discussions, addressing issues of critical importance to the global community. Notably, in 1992, Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk met outside South Africa for the first time at Davos, symbolizing a turning point in the fight against apartheid. In 1998, amid a financial crisis, the idea of creating a dialogue platform between developed and developing nations emerged, ultimately laying the groundwork for the Group of 20.

As we approach Davos 2025, the agenda is anticipated to be even more critical. The increasing gap between aspirations and anxieties highlights the complexities of our time. Geopolitical and economic uncertainties, trade tensions, cultural polarization, and climate challenges are becoming increasingly interconnected. At the same time, breakthroughs in quantum computing, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence offer unique opportunities to enhance productivity, improve living standards, and reduce poverty and inequality.

The theme for Davos 2025 is \"Collaborating for the Intelligent Age.\" This theme underscores how converging technologies are rapidly transforming our world with the potential to both uplift and divide humanity. The forum will focus on five key priorities:

  • Rethinking Growth: Exploring sustainable and inclusive economic models that benefit all segments of society.
  • Industries in the Intelligent Age: Adapting industries to technological advancements and fostering innovation.
  • Investing in People: Prioritizing education, skill development, and healthcare to empower individuals.
  • Safeguarding the Planet: Addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices.
  • Rebuilding Trust: Enhancing cooperation and understanding among nations and communities.

Davos 2025 promises to be a platform where global leaders can collaborate to navigate the intelligent age thoughtfully and ethically. By focusing on these priorities, the forum aims to harness technological advancements for the betterment of humanity while addressing the pressing challenges of our time.
