Second Global Digital Trade Expo Showcases China’s Economic Vigor

The second Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE) opened on November 23, 2023, in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province in eastern China. Spanning an impressive 100,000 square meters, the expo features one comprehensive pavilion, two special pavilions, and four digital industry pavilions, showcasing the latest advancements in digital trade.

Among the distinguished guests was former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who currently serves as the president of the Shanghai-headquartered New Development Bank (NDB). Rousseff attended the opening ceremony and toured the expo, visiting booths of prominent Chinese technology companies such as Alibaba and iFlytek.

“This fair signifies a moment of openness for this immense economy—the Chinese economy—showcasing all its power and vigor. It clearly reflects China’s potential to emerge as the world’s leading economy by 2030,” Rousseff remarked during an interview, sharing her impressions of the expo.

The GDTE serves as a platform for global innovators, business leaders, and policymakers to explore opportunities in digital trade and to strengthen international collaboration. The event underscores China’s commitment to fostering an open digital economy and highlights its strides in technological innovation.
