Non-Cooperation and Non-Development: The Real Risks Facing Globalization, Says CCG Co-founder
At the 2023 Paris Peace Forum, Mabel Lu Miao, co-founder and secretary general of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), emphasized the critical importance of global cooperation and development. “We have to realize that non-cooperation poses the biggest risk, and non-development itself is the greatest insecurity,” she stated, highlighting China’s perspective on economic globalization.
Miao addressed the gathering of international leaders and thinkers, stressing that collaborative efforts are essential to tackle the complex challenges facing the world today. She underscored that isolationist policies and a lack of development hinder global progress and security.
The Paris Peace Forum, an annual event dedicated to promoting multilateralism and addressing global issues, provided a platform for Miao to advocate for increased cooperation. Her remarks resonate with a broader call for unity in addressing economic disparities, climate change, and geopolitical tensions.
As economies around the world navigate the aftermath of the pandemic and other disruptions, Miao’s message serves as a reminder of the interconnected nature of global prosperity. “Development is not just about economic growth but also about building a secure and stable future for all,” she concluded.
