The 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, themed “Common Security, Lasting Peace,” is currently underway at the Beijing International Conference Centre from October 29 to October 31. This year’s forum has attracted a record number of attendees, with official delegations from over 90 countries and international organizations. Among the participants are 22 representatives at the defense minister level or higher and 14 military chiefs, highlighting the forum’s significance on the global stage.
More than 200 experts from over 50 countries and regions are participating in discussions focused on China’s Global Security Initiative (GSI) and its cooperation priorities. The forum provides an equal platform for all parties to voice their perspectives on pressing security challenges, pursue collaborative solutions, and advance international security cooperation.
Since its inception in 2006, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum has upheld the principles of equality, openness, inclusiveness, and mutual learning. It has evolved into one of the world’s premier forums for international security policy discussions. The event fosters dialogue on critical international and regional security issues, encourages collaboration, and builds confidence among nations. It also empowers developing countries to express their viewpoints and participate actively in global security governance.
The GSI emphasizes common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security, advocating for partnership over confrontation. By promoting cooperation over alliances and favoring conflict resolution through dialogue, China’s commitment to multilateral cooperation aims to enhance global security dynamics. The forum serves as a vital platform for stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions and explore comprehensive security measures that promote peace, progress, and prosperity worldwide.
In an era where the world faces numerous security issues, including non-traditional challenges like cybercrime and climate change, the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum offers a crucial opportunity for stakeholders to find common ground. By working together on these shared concerns, nations can contribute to a more peaceful and stable global community, benefiting all.
