Naeem’s Journey in Pakistan
Naeem Faiz, a young entrepreneur from Pakistan’s Gwadar region, recalls a time when his hometown was a quiet fishing village with limited opportunities. “We had the sea, but we lacked the means to connect with the world,” he shares.
With the advent of the BRI and the development of the Gwadar Port, things began to change. “The new port opened up trade routes and brought investors from across the globe,” Naeem explains. He started a small logistics company that now thrives on the increased activity. “It’s not just about business; it’s about hope for a better future,” he adds.
Iskendirov’s Experience in Kazakhstan
Hundreds of miles away, in Kazakhstan, Iskendirov Aziz witnessed a similar transformation. Living in a remote area of the country, access to essential services was once a significant challenge. “Our roads were poor, making travel and transport difficult,” he recounts.
The BRI introduced extensive railway projects connecting Kazakhstan to its neighbors. “Now, we have reliable railways that not only boost trade but also make it easier for people to access education and healthcare,” Iskendirov notes. He now works as a technician maintaining the railways, a job that has improved his family’s standard of living.

The stories of Naeem and Iskendirov highlight the tangible benefits the BRI brings to local communities. By focusing on infrastructure development, the initiative helps partner countries enhance connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and improve the quality of life for their residents.
