Climate change remains one of the most pressing challenges of our time, demanding unified action from all nations. Zhang Jianyu, Executive Director of the BRI Green Development Institute, emphasizes that developed countries need to do more to shoulder their historic responsibilities in combating this global crisis.
Zhang believes that while progress has been made, many developed nations have not sufficiently addressed their contributions to environmental degradation. He stresses the importance of the Global North collaborating with the Global South to achieve a green and sustainable future for all humanity.
“Climate change is a shared problem that requires a shared solution,” Zhang said at a recent forum on sustainable development. “Developed countries have the resources and technology to make significant impacts and should work collaboratively with developing nations.”
The call for cooperation highlights the interconnectedness of global environmental efforts. Zhang advocates for increased support from developed nations in technology transfer, financial investment, and capacity building to aid developing countries in their green initiatives.
“By working together, we can create a sustainable future that benefits everyone,” Zhang concluded, urging for immediate and concerted action to address climate change effectively.
