In a time of shifting global dynamics and evolving international partnerships, the sixth China-Arab States Expo recently held in Yinchuan, the Chinese mainland, stands as a testament to the growing significance of Arab-China relations. Delegates from 14 governments, 13 international and regional organizations, and over 60 foreign business associations and enterprises gathered to explore new avenues of collaboration.
The expo resulted in companies from China and Arab nations signing deals worth an astonishing $23.4 billion. These agreements span a variety of sectors, including trade, agriculture, energy, green transition, and medical care. This substantial economic cooperation highlights the depth and breadth of the partnership between China and the Arab world.
China’s presence in Arab nations goes beyond diplomatic formalities. It is grounded in mutual respect and recognition of China’s steadfast adherence to international conventions, laws, and norms. China’s principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations aligns with the aspirations of Arab countries for self-determination and sovereignty.
The expo served as a platform to showcase the practical ways in which China contributes to Arab development. Investments and support for significant projects, such as the collaboration with Egypt in constructing its new administrative capital, demonstrate China’s commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth and robust infrastructure in the region.
Attended by dignitaries from over 60 nations and more than 1,000 foreign entities based in China, the expo underscored its global significance. The participation of numerous foreign chambers, international corporations, and Chinese enterprises solidified the expo’s status as a central hub for international economic interaction.
A standout feature of the event was its focus on technology exchange and innovation. Chinese institutions signed eight significant agreements with research bodies from countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. These partnerships address critical issues such as combating desertification and advancing smart agriculture. Such collaborative efforts in technology and innovation are essential in addressing shared challenges and driving progress.
Adel Al Asoomi, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, highlighted the “strategic importance” of Arab-China relations. His remarks emphasized China’s exceptional rapport with all Arab nations and its constructive approach in global interactions.
