Guterres Affirms Voice of G77+China in Multipolar World

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for greater equality and fairness for developing countries, assuring that the voice of the Group of 77 plus China (G77+China) will continue to be a significant force in shaping a multipolar world.

Speaking at a recent international forum, Guterres emphasized the crucial role that the G77+China plays in representing the interests of developing nations. “The G77+China will always be heard as a major player in our multipolar world,” he stated. “Their collective voice is essential in promoting equality, fairness, and sustainable development globally.”

The G77+China, established in 1964, is a coalition of developing nations designed to promote its members’ economic interests and enhance their joint negotiating capacity within the United Nations. The group now comprises over 130 countries, representing a significant portion of the world’s population and economic potential.

Guterres highlighted the challenges faced by developing countries, including economic disparities, access to technology, and the impacts of climate change. He called for a more inclusive global governance system that recognizes the contributions and needs of these nations.

“In a world facing complex challenges, it is imperative that we listen to and empower the voices of all nations,” Guterres said. “Only through genuine multilateral cooperation can we achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and build a fairer future for everyone.”

His remarks underscore the increasing importance of collective action in addressing global issues and the pivotal role that alliances like the G77+China have in advocating for equitable solutions.
