In an exclusive interview with CGTN Anchor Guan Xin, John Ross, Senior Fellow at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University, warned of escalating global tensions as the United States strives to maintain its position as the world’s leading power.
Ross emphasized, “The U.S. is trying to achieve something impossible.” He elaborated that the U.S. efforts to remain the uncontested global leader are likely to lead to increased tensions worldwide. “We’re in for several dangerous decades,” he cautioned.
According to Ross, the shifting dynamics of global power are inevitable, with emerging economies rising to prominence. He suggested that attempts to resist these changes could exacerbate international conflicts and undermine global stability.
“History has shown that no nation can indefinitely retain dominance,” Ross explained. “Embracing a multipolar world order is essential for maintaining international peace and fostering cooperation.”
Ross’s insights highlight the complexities of contemporary international relations, as nations navigate economic developments and geopolitical shifts. His comments serve as a call for dialogue and mutual understanding to prevent potential conflicts arising from power transitions.
