Cyclone Fengal Claims Three Lives, Brings Heavy Rain to India’s Coastal Areas

At least three people have died in separate rain-related incidents in Chennai as Cyclone Fengal made landfall on Saturday night along the coastal lines of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, officials said Sunday.

The cyclonic storm brought heavy rainfall, triggering inundation in several parts of the region. Streets were flooded, and residents faced waterlogged homes as emergency services worked to assist those affected.

Cyclone Fengal crossed the northern Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts, close to Puducherry, with wind speeds of 70 to 80 kilometers per hour (kmph) and gusts reaching up to 90 kmph.

Authorities have urged caution, advising people to stay indoors and avoid venturing out unless necessary. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea due to hazardous conditions.
