The coastal city of Qingdao in east China’s Shandong Province is set to welcome the 2024 Global Ocean Development Forum on October 24 and 25. Announced by the provincial government, this annual event aims to foster international collaboration in marine sustainability and growth.
Under the theme “Let’s ‘sea’ our futures – promoting blue partnerships for growth and sustainability,” the forum is co-hosted by the Shandong Provincial People’s Government and the Ministry of Natural Resources. It will feature a main forum, the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform Qingdao Session, four parallel forums, and six special sessions.
The forum will delve into critical topics such as marine ecological governance, ecological restoration, and carbon trading as vital solutions to climate change. Attendees can look forward to the release of the “2024 China Ocean Development Index” and the “2024 Ocean Development Forum Qingdao Initiative.”
Discussions will also focus on how international cooperation can enhance the sharing of best practices and technologies to advance global marine ecosystem protection. The event promises to be a significant platform for stakeholders committed to the sustainable development of the world’s oceans.
