Chinese Provinces Unite to Protect Migratory Bird Routes

As the migratory season for birds begins in China, a united effort to protect migratory bird routes has been launched by the provinces of Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, and Guangdong, alongside south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

On Friday, officials gathered in Lanshan County of Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, to officially initiate this joint protection campaign. The initiative aims to safeguard migratory birds and promote sustainable development throughout the region.

China boasts nearly 1,500 species of birds, with more than half classified as migratory. Four of the world’s nine major migratory bird routes traverse the country, underscoring China’s pivotal role in global avian migration patterns.

This collaborative campaign reflects a commitment to environmental conservation and the protection of vital ecosystems. By working together, these provinces and regions aim to ensure the safe passage of migratory birds and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.
