Bolivia has declared a national emergency as relentless forest fires continue to ravage vast areas of the country, the Defense Ministry announced on Saturday.
At a press conference, Defense Minister Edmundo Novillo emphasized the urgent need for international assistance to combat the escalating crisis.
“This will allow us to have more agile and effective support from friendly countries and from international cooperation,” Novillo stated, highlighting the importance of swift action.
The declaration aims to expedite the coordination of resources and expertise from the global community to contain the fires that have devastated ecosystems and threatened local communities.
The emergency comes amid rising concerns over the environmental and economic impacts of the fires, which have been exacerbated by dry conditions and high temperatures.
As Bolivia seeks international support, neighboring countries and global organizations are expected to contribute to firefighting efforts and provide humanitarian aid to affected regions.
