Nearly 500 million children worldwide, mainly in West and Central Africa, are spending more than half the year enduring temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reported on Wednesday.
According to UNICEF's new analysis, one in five children—approximately 466 million—live in areas experiencing at least double the number of extremely hot days compared to six decades ago.
