Over 28,000 residents have been evacuated from northeast China’s Liaoning Province following a new round of torrential rains that have caused water levels in six rivers to exceed warning levels.
From 7 a.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday, heavy downpours battered many parts of the province. The Xinglongtai District in the city of Panjin experienced the heaviest rainfall, with the largest hourly precipitation reaching 81.9 millimeters.
The province’s average precipitation reached 25.4 millimeters during the 24-hour period, leading to concerns over flooding and prompting authorities to take swift action to ensure the safety of residents.
Local officials have mobilized resources to assist in the evacuation efforts and are closely monitoring river levels. Communities are urged to stay vigilant and follow guidance from local authorities as more rainfall is anticipated in the coming days.
