China Issues Orange and Yellow Alerts for Mountain Torrents in Liaoning and Heilongjiang

China’s Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration issued orange and yellow alerts on Sunday evening for potential mountain torrents in the northeastern regions of Liaoning and Heilongjiang.

The orange alert, the second-highest level in the warning system, indicates a high likelihood of mountain torrents in specific areas. Residents and local authorities in Liaoning and Heilongjiang are urged to stay vigilant and prepare for possible emergency measures.

The alerts are effective from 8 p.m. Sunday to 8 p.m. Monday. The two government departments have advised people in the affected areas to stay informed about weather updates, avoid mountainous regions prone to torrents, and ensure safety protocols are in place.

Mountain torrents can pose significant risks, including flash floods and landslides. The issuance of these alerts underscores the government’s proactive approach to disaster prevention and public safety.
