Beijing is bracing for more heavy downpours as several northern and western districts issued an orange alert for heavy rain on Tuesday. This marks the second-highest level in the Chinese capital’s four-tier warning system, prompting the suspension of some train services.
The municipal meteorological department reported that heavy rain began lashing the city at midnight on Monday. By 10 a.m. on Tuesday, the average precipitation across Beijing had reached 42.9 millimeters, with Changping District recording the maximum rainfall.
The districts of Shijingshan, Haidian, Mentougou, Changping, and Huairou have all issued orange alerts for rainstorms. Residents in these areas are advised to stay indoors and take necessary precautions against potential flooding and waterlogging.
The heavy rainfall has disrupted transportation, leading to the suspension of certain train services to ensure passenger safety. Commuters are encouraged to check for updates and plan their journeys accordingly.
City authorities are on high alert, implementing measures to mitigate the impact of the severe weather. Emergency services are prepared to respond to any incidents arising from the heavy rain.
