China’s National Meteorological Center on Monday issued an orange alert for rainstorms, the second-highest level in its four-tier warning system, as heavy rainfall is set to lash multiple regions across the country.
According to the forecast, heavy rain is expected on Monday and Tuesday in many areas, including the capital Beijing and neighboring Hebei and Tianjin, as well as the provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hubei, and Hunan.
Some regions may experience up to 280 millimeters of rainfall within 24 hours, raising concerns over potential natural disasters.
The observatory has advised local authorities to implement emergency response measures and remain vigilant against flash floods, mudslides, and other rain-induced hazards.
