Typhoon Gaemi Leaves 10 Dead, Hundreds Injured in Taiwan Region

At least 10 people have lost their lives and 897 others have been injured after Typhoon Gaemi swept across China’s Taiwan region, local authorities reported on Sunday. The powerful typhoon has left a trail of destruction, causing severe disruptions across several cities.

Residents in Hualien, Kaohsiung, and Yilan are grappling with roadblocks, collapsed roadbeds, and landslides triggered by the storm. Two people remain missing as rescue teams continue their search amidst challenging conditions.

Typhoon Gaemi, the third typhoon to hit the region this year, made landfall in eastern Taiwan’s Yilan County around midnight on July 25. The storm’s fierce winds and heavy rains battered the island before it continued its path, making a second landfall in Fujian Province.

Local authorities have urged residents to stay vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines as recovery efforts are underway. Teams are working tirelessly to restore infrastructure and provide assistance to affected communities.
