Liaoning Province, China – As dawn broke on Saturday, more than 27,000 residents in northeastern China’s Liaoning Province were safely relocated in response to the relentless downpour brought by Typhoon Gaemi. The third typhoon of the year has triggered heavy rainfall, causing water levels to surge in 40 reservoirs across the province.
The provincial flood control and drought relief department reported that the reservoirs are now discharging water in an orderly manner to manage the overflow. With meteorological forecasts predicting heavy torrential rain from early Sunday morning through Tuesday, authorities are on high alert.

In light of the escalating situation, the Ministry of Emergency Management raised the emergency response level for floods in Liaoning from Level IV to Level III on Friday. This elevation allows for a more robust allocation of resources and coordination among emergency services.
