China’s State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has activated a Level-IV emergency response to address severe flooding threats in Chongqing Municipality, southwest China.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Management, heavy downpours and rainstorms are expected from Monday through Tuesday across the Sichuan Basin. In some areas, these intense weather conditions are anticipated to persist until Saturday, based on weather forecasts.
On Monday, weather authorities issued an orange alert—the second-highest level—for rainstorms in the region, highlighting the severity of the impending weather events.
The Level-IV emergency response is the lowest in China’s four-tier system but signals that relevant departments should prepare for potential flood-related emergencies.
