In a recent move underscoring China’s commitment to environmental protection, the Xiamen Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau conducted an on-site inspection of a local rubber industry company in southeast China’s Fujian Province on December 6, 2023. The enforcement team meticulously sampled and tested the exhaust gases produced during the company’s manufacturing processes.
The results revealed that non-methane emissions at one of the monitoring points exceeded the emission limits set by the “Emission Standard of Air Pollutants for Xiamen” (DB 35/323-2018). This violation of Article 18 of the “Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Pollution” prompted swift action from the authorities.
In accordance with China’s environmental laws, the Ecological Environment Bureau of Xiamen imposed a fine of 123,435 yuan on the company and ordered it to rectify the illegal behavior of exceeding air pollutant emission standards.
