China has earmarked 443 million yuan (about $62.26 million) in disaster relief funds to combat drought and support agricultural production across several provinces.
The funds will be directed towards drought prevention and control efforts in Hebei, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, and Shaanxi provinces, as announced by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.
Sweltering heat has gripped parts of China, leading to soil moisture loss and adversely affecting seed sowing and crop growth during the summer season.
The allocated funds will support anti-drought measures in the affected regions, including replenishing soil moisture, replanting crops, and applying fertilizers.
These efforts aim to facilitate summer crop planting and lay a solid foundation for a bountiful autumn harvest, according to the ministry.
