China’s meteorological authority has renewed a yellow alert for severe convection weather, warning of impending thunderstorms, gales, hail, and heavy rain across various regions.
From Thursday morning to Friday morning, severe weather is expected to sweep through parts of Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Shandong, Jiangxi, Guizhou, and Guangxi, according to the National Meteorological Center.
Intense heavy rainfall, with hourly precipitation ranging from 50 to over 80 millimeters, will impact areas including Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Liaoning, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guizhou, and Guangxi.
The center has advised drivers to exercise caution due to low visibility and urged vessels to maintain safe navigation distances. In regions like Shandong and Shaanxi, currently experiencing drought conditions, the anticipated rainfall is expected to provide much-needed relief.
China employs a three-tier color-coded weather warning system for severe convection weather and sandstorms, with yellow indicating the second-highest level of alert, after orange and before blue.
