On June 5, 2024, a veil of mist and light rain transformed the Lingzhi mushroom base in Yunle Township, Jingde County, east China’s Anhui Province, into a mystical landscape. The base seemed to float in and out of sight amidst the clouds and fog, offering a breathtaking scene reminiscent of a fairyland.
Jingde County, surrounded by majestic mountains, is renowned for its clear waters and lush greenery. The area experiences lingering mists throughout the year and boasts an abundant supply of mountain spring water. These pristine natural conditions create an optimal environment for the cultivation of Lingzhi mushrooms, contributing to their exceptional quality.
The Lingzhi mushroom, known scientifically as Ganoderma, is native to the dim and humid forests of China. It thrives at the bases and stumps of deciduous trees, absorbing nutrients from them. Wild Lingzhi is exceedingly rare, as it requires a delicate balance of light, moisture, and temperature to grow; typically, only a few out of every 10,000 trees will bear it.
Celebrated in traditional Chinese medicine, Lingzhi mushrooms are esteemed for their potential health benefits, including reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease and enhancing the immune system.
