Two people, a man and a child, have been found dead at separate locations amid devastating floods in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, authorities reported on Sunday.
Four women remain missing as search and rescue teams continue their efforts. Heavy rains on Saturday caused parts of Kariega, a town north of Gqeberha city under the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality, to become submerged.
Overnight, 70 people were rescued from the floodwaters. Emergency services are intensifying the search for the missing individuals while assisting affected communities.
The floods have caused significant disruption in the region, with residents urged to exercise caution and stay informed about weather updates.
