China is gearing up for the arrival of Typhoon Maliksi, the second typhoon to threaten the country this year. On Thursday, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters activated a level-4 emergency response to better cope with the anticipated gales and downpours expected to hit southern and southeastern regions.
At 2 p.m. on Friday, Typhoon Maliksi was detected approximately 175 kilometers south of Yangjiang City in Guangdong Province. Meteorological forecasts indicate that the typhoon is expected to make landfall in the evening, impacting coastal areas from Dianbai District in Maoming City to Zhuhai City in Guangdong Province at tropical storm strength.
Authorities have urged residents and local governments to prepare for the storm’s impact. Precautionary measures are being implemented to mitigate potential flooding and property damage. Fishermen along the affected coastlines have been advised to return to port, and maritime activities have been suspended in anticipation of rough seas.
The level-4 emergency response signifies heightened vigilance and coordination among various agencies to ensure public safety and minimize the typhoon’s adverse effects.
As Maliksi approaches, residents are advised to stay informed through official channels and adhere to safety guidelines issued by local authorities.
