China’s National Meteorological Center issued a blue alert on Friday, signaling the onset of heavy rainstorms expected to sweep across vast parts of the country. The alert comes as downpours are predicted to intensify, potentially impacting daily life and activities in several provinces.
From 2 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday, significant rainfall is forecast to hit regions including Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Guangxi, the Sichuan Basin, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning, according to the center. Residents in these areas are advised to stay alert to changing weather conditions.
Some locales within these regions may experience particularly heavy rainfall, with maximum hourly precipitation exceeding 70 millimeters. The heavy rains are likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms, strong gales, or even hail, adding to potential hazards.
The blue alert is the lowest level in China’s four-tier weather warning system, but it still indicates a need for precaution. The public is encouraged to take necessary measures to safeguard against potential flooding, landslides, and other rain-induced disasters.
Authorities are urging communities to remain vigilant, stay informed through official channels, and minimize outdoor activities during severe weather to ensure safety.
