Chengdu’s ‘Heidi’s Mama’ Cultivates Floral Success, Becomes Horticultural Expo Ambassador

In the heart of Chengdu, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, a vibrant 3,000-square-meter garden blooms with over 2,000 plant species. Arches laden with fragrant blossoms and platforms brimming with bouquets welcome visitors into a world of color and scent. Amidst this floral haven, employees stream live broadcasts on their cell phones, sharing the garden’s beauty with audiences far and wide.

At the center of this blossoming enterprise is “Heidi’s Mama,” also known as Qiu Yamin. As she introduces rare flowers to eager tourists and international breeders, her passion for horticulture is evident. Qiu, the founder of the “Heydear Garden” brand, has recently been appointed as the promotion ambassador for the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu.

From Modest Beginnings to Floral Fame

Qiu’s journey began in 2008 with a modest 13.5-square-meter fresh flower shop. Fueled by her love for nature and dedication to her craft, she nurtured her business through years of hard work. After the birth of her second daughter, she renamed her venture “Heidi and Lulu’s Garden” in honor of her children. Her innovative approach and authentic online presence have transformed her into an “internet-famous” flower grower, affectionately known by her millions of followers as “Heidi’s Mama.”

Blossoming Business Through Innovation

Through a seamless integration of online and offline channels, Qiu’s business has flourished. By establishing her own cultivation base, she imports and selects plant varieties from around the globe, engaging in both production and breeding. This strategy has led to an impressive average annual compound growth rate exceeding 60 percent, with over 5 million packages delivered by 2023.

“People’s pursuit of nature and beauty has enabled the flourishing development of the home gardening market in China,” Qiu remarked. Her success story mirrors the country’s growing enthusiasm for horticulture and the burgeoning opportunities for entrepreneurs in this field.

Inspiring a New Generation of Gardeners

As the promotion ambassador for the upcoming International Horticultural Exhibition, Qiu aims to inspire more people to embrace the beauty of gardening. Her journey from a small flower shop owner to a leading figure in China’s horticultural scene exemplifies the potential for growth when passion meets innovation.
